Define Your Ideal Client + Succeed As a Coach – Ashley Enget

Just to explain exactly what I mean and make it clearer for you – think about a health coach.

Now, a health coach can market themselves to help everyone and anyone get their dream body right? BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?? FOR WHO??

That can mean so many different things to so many different people.

If your ideal client is a woman in their 30’s to 40’s, it could mean just losing 20 pounds and feeling confident in a bikini. But for a bodybuilder, it means gaining 20 pounds, bulking up in the gym and getting some MAJOR gains.

Those are two COMPLETELY different ideal clients. And you can’t work with all of them. You have to get more specific.

So here we go – grab a pen and paper so we can figure out your ideal client together!

To get started, I want you to ask yourself the following questions and write down the answers:

  • What kind of person needs your coaching the most?
  • Can you help them get amazing results and change their life for the better?
  • Will they pay what you ask?

The last part is important because there are lots of people who could use your help, but they won’t pay for it for a lot of different reasons. They aren’t your ideal client and you don’t need to worry about them.

Now write down a high level, one-sentence description of your ideal client.

Example: A mom who is trying to lose the extra weight put on from pregnancy.

This is your foundation! Now time to make it a bit more detailed.
