How This World-Renowned Actress Established Her Fashion Line Amid The Pandemic


From a young age, world-renowned Mexican actress Kate del Castillo knew she wanted to express her creative personality in creations of her own. After the success of tequila brand Honor, the businesswoman decided to make her debut into the fashion industry with her newest venture: KDC x C’est Toi – the collection that is poised to be the next big thing in the fashion industry.

Designed during quarantine, the capsule collection was inspired by the pandemic’s effects on our every-day-life, keeping us at home to conduct business and meetings via zoom along with other technology. Not one to wait around to be called for an acting job, Kate partnered with Los Angeles-based fashion brand C’est Toi to create the perfect prêt-à-porter line that embraces every woman’s body without compromising comfort.

As a Latina, Kate often struggled finding pieces of clothing that would embrace her curves and enhance her femininity. Influenced by the stay-at-home phenomenon, she decided to launch her own clothing line that, thanks to the use of versatile garments and C’est Toi’s denim savoir-faire, accommodates all sizes and fits every woman. She wanted to feel comfortable and casual, still look good and feel like a confident woman.

The decision to partner with C’est Toi came naturally, as they are leaders in the fashion industry and have a lot of experience delivering high-quality pieces with a distinct style. While designing the capsule collection, Kate’s goal was to make the pieces accessible for everyone without compromising quality. 

Starting a new line of clothing in a pandemic wasn’t the easiest route to take, but it has been very rewarding for Kate. As the clothing line launched on August 24th, the main challenge right now is to grow distribution. Each stage of business will always present new challenges and it is in how you react to the challenges that will determine your success.

Not a stranger to business as Kate owns her own production company and tequila brand, she is always learning about business as she goes and strives to be the best business owner she can be. She loves being a female entrepreneur and is amazed by how far women have come and continue to go. 1.    Choose the people you partner with carefully

Your partner needs to have the same values as you do to ensure you are sync and true to who you are. This will keep you aligned with your values and deliver a product of quality and purpose.

2.    Do not be the smartest person in the room

You need to surround yourself with people and professionals you can learn and grow from. Ensure you are not the smartest person in the room or not surrounded by people who want to please you.

3.    Have passion for what you are doing

Passion will take you far in your business because there are days where it can be tiring and discouraging. That passion will be the reason you choose to keep going.
