What is your backstory? How did you find your calling?

Back in 2017 when I started my divorce proceedings I joined a small single moms group at my local church. When I join the group I started encouraging the women with small productivity hacks to balance being a single mom and working. The women seemed really encouraged by the strategies so I decided I was going to make an e-book.

After putting my blood sweat and tears into the e-book, figuratively, I decided why not try to publish it. Since they were interested, I assumed more women may be as well. I moved forward with the publishing idea, hit #1 bestseller and international bestseller on Amazon and the rest is history.

What do you enjoy the most about what you do?

Being able to support women with bringing their vision to life. It’s literally the most amazing feeling ever.

What is your latest book about? What inspired you to write it?

My latest book is about how we heal after divorce. I think a lot of women become victims of their divorces and unfortunately have a hard time healing and finding themselves again. I’m all about empowering women to be the best versions of who they’re going to be in this book helps women do just that.

What’s your greatest achievement to date? Why are you proud of it?

My greatest achievement to date honestly is still being able to be here. 2017 was the hardest year of my life. I was working full-time working a part-time job, in grad school full-time, and raising two young children alone. I did not understand that season nor did I understand how I was ever supposed to make it through it. But the fact that I am here and I have used it as a season and the lessons involved in it encourages me every single day.

Who has inspired you the most on your journey?

Honestly, even though I don’t know her I would say Oprah Winfrey. I’m a firm believer in expanders. Simply put when you have a girl looking for someone who accomplished things that you admire to remind yourself that that’s available for you as well. Oprah Winfrey had a really rough childhood but still was able to overcome it and show up for her goals and like anything that we’ve seen before. So when I would think about how tough times where I would remember if there was a light on the other side. As far as a person that I know it would be my grandmother. My grandmother prayed for me she encouraged me and she believed in me. This kept me going and really difficult times.

Who would you love to meet one day and why?

I would definitely love to meet Oprah Winfrey. She encourages me so much.

What do you wish someone told you before you became an entrepreneur/business owner/author?

I wish someone would have explained the roller coaster ride of entrepreneurship. Some days it’s really easy and you know that you’re doing what you’re supposed to do other days you questioning if you’re crazy. But honestly, I wouldn’t change it for the world. As a coach, one thing that I do share with my audience is the entrepreneurial journey and I support them with understanding why their mindset is such an important component to keep them successful on the ride.

What advice would you like to give others who are on the same or similar journey as you?

I would tell them that it’s so important to make sure that their mindset is aligned with their success. You can have all the systems, strategies, and support in the world but if your mindset isn’t right none of that’s going to matter.

What’s the best piece of advice that you have received recently?

The best piece of advice that I’ve received lately is that you cannot outperform who you believe yourself to be. So if you don’t believe that you’re worthy or capable or called, it is going to be really difficult to go after the dreams that you desire. You must first change your beliefs in order to change your outcome.

What’s next for you?

Currently, right now I am working on launching a kids gratitude journal. I have worked diligently with my children to incorporate more gratitude into their life and I’m so excited to bring this to my children. I am also launching a coaching certification program where I train aspiring coaches with the skills they need to be successful and certify them.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In the next five years, I see myself certifying 1,000 coaches to be able to create a ripple effect of women who know that they have amazing things to offer the world.

What can we catch you doing when you’re not working/writing?

I’m an avid reader! Last year I read 58 books. So if I’m not working or writing you will catch me reading or watching an episode of The Office which is my favorite show ever!

What book impacted your life the most and why?

Honestly, I have read so many books it’s hard to narrow down to one. I would say Believe Bigger by Marshawn Evans is one of them. This book taught me to stop playing small with my dreams!

What are three random facts about you?

  1. I love The Office.

  2. If I could take a nap every day I would.

  3. I hate coffee.

What is your favorite quote?

“Do today what your future self will thank you for” – Unknown

What are your final thoughts that you wish to share with us?

A lot of times when we have dreams we feel guilty about them. Guilty because they feel too far-fetched or guilty because maybe we don’t feel like we’re being grateful for what we have right here and right now. That guilt is simply a distraction. I’m a firm believer that what is desired by you is destined for you. So pay attention to your dreams and your goals and your desires because it’s a preview into what’s available in your future if you’re willing to commit to it.

To be or not to be, that is the question.

Are you consumed with being perfect?

Do you feel like what you do is never good enough?

Do you often procrastinate due to perfection?

Let me help you put your best foot forward!

In Progress Over Perfection, I will share with you strategies that have worked to turn my life around and allow me to reasonably accomplish tasks. You will uncover why you became a perfectionist, how it impacts you, and most importantly, how you can break free of the habit for good. This book will help you create a life you love by releasing yourself from unreasonable expectations.

For years, I struggled with the idea that I had to be perfect, and it affected all aspects of my life. I refused to walk out of my house looking half-way decent. I made lists for every task imaginable, but I was never content to delegate tasks. I had a difficult time trying to relax. The idea of handling every single accomplishment or circumstance with grace consumed me. Every task had to be done perfectly or not at all.

My perfectionism overwhelmed me. More importantly, I was losing out on very important opportunities in my life because I would not even attempt activities for fear of imperfection.

After years of living like this, I realized my perfectionistic tendencies were too costly, and I wanted to break free. I created a strategy that has allowed me to pursue my goals without fear or unachievable perfectionism.

Progress Over Perfection means I do not have to struggle to be perfect; I just have to make progress. If you would like to escape the struggle of perfectionism and truly make progress with your goals, interpersonal relationships, or daily pursuits, then this book was made for you!

Let me help you put your best foot forward!
