Productivity Hacks For Women

We all get the same 24 hours every day. So, how are some business owners making it look effortless? I’m always impressed (also, in complete jealousy) with mompreneurs and wifepreneurs. They balance kids, home, friends, and business with ease but… how?

Check out these three productivity hacks that have changed my life. Thank me later.

Stop Multitasking

It’s understandable that you want to achieve all of your tasks at once. Unfortunately, multitasking isn’t a real option. In fact, Forbes reported multitasking actually reduces productivity by up to forty percent. Attempting to multitask can cost you time, money and partnerships. We’ve found a hack that can ensure that you’re moving your business forward while living a more fulfilled life: TIME BLOCK SCHEDULING. We call it “time blocking,” where you assign tasks to specific blocks of time during the day.  To begin, you’ll need to write down everything you do in a week. This was the hardest task for me because you’re encouraged to even include things like shaving, dating, eating out, bathroom breaks… all of it. From there you’ll add the section to your calendar and remain realistic about how and when to complete it. I’ve included a screengrab of my schedule.

Let Go of Recharge Guilt

One of the biggest mistakes all business owners make has nothing to do with the functions of their business, but it has everything to do with them. Yes, you are the problem. We get so focused on running our business that we forget to carve out spaces for ourselves. If you have to question whether or not you ate that day, it may be time to step away from the computer and just breathe (and eat). Feeling guilty, eh? Give yourself permission to enjoy “me time” within your weekly schedule. Use this time to meditate, exercise, learn, shave, whatever you need to feel the best version of you. Your business cannot run effectively without you, so it’s imperative to take time for yourself to recharge.

Time to Delegate

Let’s be honest as small business owners we are terrible delegators. In the early stages of business, you were and probably still are, the designated person for everything. It’s time to get over that. As your business grows, make use of the people around you. Delegate to them. Truth is… you can’t do it all, and you shouldn’t. We know delegating can be scary so try using professionals who align with your work-style. If you’re looking for cost-effective options, try hiring interns from Internships.com or local colleges. Fiverr is another good resource for freelance work that can sustain your business.
