The World on the Wheel by Suzanne Peters

The world is at your fingertips and the new one is just below that.

In what is possibly the world’s most famous statue, The Thinker sits, his clenched fist supporting his head. Over time his meaning has changed from thinker to dreamer and ultimately, to creator.

The world is at his fingertips because his head rests upon his hand. The mind is the filter through which we view reality. For most people that reality is filtered through their environment and experiences because the mind processes our senses. But our senses are just the default setting, our conscious mind is the game-changing lens. The only world, we experience is the one we think we do. If we believe ourselves to be trapped in a system that can neither be changed nor challenged then chances are we will live that out.

It all boils down to this one question.

Is this big spinning ball we call earth the potter’s wheel… or the clay itself?

If you think it’s the former then you will allow yourself to spin in circles, being molded by anyone who lays a finger on you. You will be shaped by opinion and crafted by culture – more often than not to your detriment. Friction feeds your figure because any kind of pressure impacts you. You will never be in top form because you are not the one doing the forming. With this kind of mindset, you will always be subject to someone or something else. Your capacity truly is capped by your character – not as a matter of integrity but because you will follow the story that you tell about the world and your place in it. And if you think you don’t really tell yourself any kind of story? Then you need to make a drastic change. Because those kinds of people will only ever be one word in a picture that tells a thousand – merely a testament to the times that they lived in.

You see there is a difference between those who inherit the earth and those who merely inhabit it. And at its most fundamental level those who inherited the earth though they could and decided they would. They are those who put their hands to the clay.

With the world on the wheel, it is yours for the taking, and more importantly yours for the remaking. The world is always at your fingertips – you just have to decide what kind of world you want and then go out and make it happen.

So we can agree, what you think and declare shall come to be.

However, that is not all it takes.

Those with open mouths and closed minds make a lot of noise but lacking weight, they dissipate soon after. Six feet of soundproofing was all it took to forget them.

But there are others whose voices resonate beyond the grave. Their life echoes through history. A disruptive sound that quakes the earth in order to recreate it. They are the people who labored to build the very platform from which they speak, the people who realize potential is neither skill nor asset – merely a perceived capability to achieve. The more you succeed the more potential people think you have. On that basis, potential is just an expectation so why aim to meet expectations, when you can exceed them?

And when they change because you achieved something? When people set a higher bar? What then? You go further, you work harder, you do more than they thought and then you do it again and again and again. You will see that you truly have infinite potential because each time you level up people expect you to beat that one too and even if they don’t, you should recognize that you have achieved something that seems impossible to someone. You cannot do the impossible, but you can recognize the boundary of impossibility is lightyears beyond where people think it to be. It takes one victory to come to terms with the fact that you can erase that imagined line. That you can single-handedly defeat the most oppressive force in your life. The one that suppresses the way you express yourself because of some kind of fear, but the best way to overcome a fear of failure is to take action. The best way to disregard the opinions of others is to have such a loud voice within you that everything else is drowned out. You will find yourself reaching new heights simply because you thought yourself capable, and then used your own hands to build that reality.

Just like The Thinker, the world is at your fingertips and the new one is just below there. Your mind determines the former and with the world on the wheel, it rests in your hands… the perfect place for you to shape it.
