wegg® Reflects and Honors Martin Luther King Jr. – Women Entrepreneurs Grow Global®

Contemplating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK), Jr. in the wake of a white riot at the U.S. Capitol gives us a chance to reflect and do better.

wegg®, based in Chicago, is the city where in 1966 MLK, James Bevel and Al Raby led the Chicago Freedom Movement.  MLK also lived in Chicago – a run-down apartment on the West side of Chicago.

Dr. King is best known for his contributions to the American civil rights movement in the 1960s. His most famous work is his “I Have a Dream” speech, delivered in 1963, in which he spoke of his dream of a United States that is void of segregation and racism.

On this day, let’s reflect and honor MLK by thinking deeply not only about what he stood for but what he said:  “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
