10 Free Resources For Black Business Owners — Miocoa Strategies

I’m bringing business, branding and marketing gems you didn’t know you needed. And BONUS, they’re all FREE NINETY-NINE!

You’ll probably benefit from these if:

  • You are a content creator, creative, designer, marketer, brand strategist or entrepreneur.

1. Grammarly
Copy-writing and proofreading might not be everyone’s strong suit, but when it comes to blogging, creating captions and sounding professional, grammar isn’t up for debate. That’s why our team uses Grammarly to correct our grammatical errors when writing for us and our clients.

2. Dubsado
Often I see creatives who are great at creating but have horrible systems that prevent them from truly succeeding. Dubsado puts that at bay. With workflows that send emails, proposals and contracts automatically, you earn more time back in your day. Gone are the days where you have to do it all.

3. Space
Believe me. Instagram is getting harder to manage, especially when we finally got rid of extra lines and emojis in our captions to create a break (a space between paragraphs) yet the feature isn’t working properly. Space keeps the breaks in your longer captions with some magical powers.

4. MailTrack for Gmail
The tool we all need for tracking emails. Ever email someone and wonder if they’ve read the message or not? MailTrack tells you exactly when someone has opened your email and how many times they’ve opened it.

5. Google Keep
Most of us have iPhones and use the Notes app on the iOS system. Google Keep is Notes 10x better. If you’re like me, you like to create color-coordinated to-do lists, grocery lists, notes, ideas and more on your phone. Hello, Google Keep which makes all of it possible. I even add in hourly tasks for each day.

The next two are favorites for designers and creatives. Think about those clients who bring you an old logo yet they don’t have the font or colors.

6. Fount
Fount offers the ability to identify any font on a page. Love someone else’s font? Simply add the finder to your bookmarks section and Fount is with you forever.

7. Eye-Dropper Chrome ExtensionThe Eye-Dropper extension provides the exact color shown on a page. Ever needed the exact color of a page? or a logo? Now you have it. Load up your image or page, tap the Eye-Dropper tool and select the color you need the RGB, Hex or other color codes.

8. Tenor
Tenor is arguably the best GIF app ever, namely because the Jackie Aina GIFs are HILARIOUS. Consider creating better emails and content with GIFs from Tenor.

9. PromptSmart LiteVideo is a necessary element of marketing; from the website to social media, you need compelling videos. However, fear of public speaking is the door slam to video marketing. PromptSmart Lite is a free teleprompter app for when you record videos and need to remember what you’re going to say once the camera starts rolling. BRILLIANT.

10. Trello
I decided to save the best project management tool I’ve ever used for our last resource for black business owners. Trello is hands-down convenient for managing small teams and keeping projects on track. Our team uses Trello for all of our clients and even integrate Google Drive files, Dropbox files and our communication tool, Slack.

Plan to try one of these resources? Let us know how you like it!
