How to Thrive as a Multi-Passionate Entrepreneur

While at first glance, it may seem that none of them fit together like peanut butter and jelly, they do. You will see here shortly how each of the businesses and passions link together that make a unique formula for my brand. Let’s delve a little deeper into this!

The Domination Digital Marketing™ is a small boutique agency that offers digital marketing support for authorpreneurs, entrepreneurs, and small business owners so that they can dominate the online space, share their unique message with the world, and create a profitable brand. It also provides self-publishing consulting for independent authors.

Next, there’s the Independent Author Society™, which is a passion project of mine. It is a central hub for aspiring or published self-published authors to receive tips and tricks, industry news, advice, and training about writing, editing, marketing, publishing, and profiting from books.

Then there’s the Intuitive Spiritual Warrior Holistic Consulting & Healing™ business. I promote emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual healing through alternative and holistic methods so that my clients can break the chains holding them back from becoming their best selves, finding their purpose, and overcoming life’s greatest adversities with grace. These methods include life coaching, intuitive readings, and healing, to name a few, combining several modalities with a Christian and “woo-woo” aspect.

Lastly, there’s Ahwalay Rental Properties LLC, a business I co-own with my husband, which offers clean and affordable housing for members of our local community.

If we consider all of the titles I have throughout these businesses, you will find the following:

  • Affiliate Marketer

  • Business Coach/Consultant

  • Entrepreneur

  • Holistic Healing Practitioner

  • Inspirational Speaker

  • International Bestselling Author

  • Intuitive Reader

  • Life Coach

  • Marketing Strategist

  • Real Estate Investor

  • Self-Publishing Consultant

  • Small Business Owner

  • Teacher + Workshop Facilitator

Wow, right?! I admit it’s a mouthful and a little intimidating. Not to mention that it doesn’t cover all the skills I have under each title or the certifications or degrees that I have either. Yikes!

But, here’s the thing, before I had my epiphany, I was struggling to know what to call myself and how to position my businesses online after I started adding more to my plate. The struggle came from old, outdated marketing and branding beliefs that I was holding onto. Once I realized my limiting belief that was blocking my growth, I was able to do the inner work and release it so that I could move forward.

Upon releasing it, I understood that my PERSONAL BRAND was the golden ticket I sought to simplify my businesses! There’s a saying I learned years ago in my direct sales days, KISS – Keep it simple, sweetie! With my old, outdated beliefs about marketing and branding, I was overcomplicating everything. It got too overwhelming, which led me to shut down and not want to publish any content for over a year! Obviously something I regret and don’t recommend either. lol

Rather than try to keep each business or the subsidiaries separate and strategically promote them on particular days to avoid confusion, I embraced it and understood that an upleveling and shift in my brand was needed.

Why should I only call myself a Marketing strategist or a Life Coach, when I have degrees, certifications, and other experience to share with my audience?

I shouldn’t, and neither should you!

You see, I realized that holding back my gifts and wisdom with my audience so that I could focus on ONE thing for my brand to get “known” as the expert left me feeling unfulfilled, creatively blocked, and stagnant in my business.

Ultimately my businesses became my job – soul-sucking and draining. I wasn’t lit up anymore, which caused a drop in my confidence, sales, and bank account balance. Nevermind the fact that I was doing a complete disservice to my growing audience!

For years I was (and still am) known as a Marketing Strategist, which is wonderful, but there’s so much more to me than being epic at marketing. Since I already have an established audience and am seen as an expert, this transition to focus more on my personal brand only made more sense to me.

HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS A MULTI-PASSIONATE ENTREPRENEUR

How can you be a successful multi-passionate entrepreneur without looking like a complete flake?

This is such a great question!

There are a few things to consider that can support your journey to embracing your many passions and businesses. Let’s explore them together.

  1. Focus on ONE business to start to build momentum and make money on your assets.

  2. Know your niche and match your content to your audience’s needs, problems, and expectations.

  3. Know and understand your audience’s journey and create assets for the stage of their journey.

  4. Give your audience what they need from you.

  5. Leverage your assets to create an experience with you.

    • What assets do you have that will support your audience in the stage of their journey? (Blog posts, videos, podcasts, social media content, etc.)

    • What’s the customer/client value journey you’re taking them on with your assets?

    • How many steps in your journey will you take them on to support them?

  6. Utilize affiliate products and services to meet their needs and fill any gaps.

    • What affiliate products or services do you have to offer your audience?

    • What would be the next step in the customer/client value journey to generate a small sale that will help solve their problem and provide a quick win?

    • What other resources can you recommend to further their journey, create an experience, and solve their problem?

  7. Position yourself properly as an expert and with authenticity.

    • What exactly do you do for your audience?

    • What’s the specific step-by-step process of how you support your clients?

    • Is it something you need to share right now, or can it wait until you determine that it’s PSA worthy?

    • Is this passion or hobby going to get monetized? Does it have to be?

  8. Evaluate your passions and hobbies.

    • Which passions or hobbies work closely together?

    • Which passions or hobbies offer sustainable growth and profitable business?

    • What passions or hobbies can you focus on in the long-term that connects most closely to your BIG dream or WHY?

  9. Determine and solidify your “why.”

    • What tasks light you up and bring you joy?

    • Why do you love this passion, hobby, or business?

    • Why did you start this passion, hobby, or business?

    • What motivates you to push through when the going gets tough?

    • Whose life will change or be positively impacted by this passion, hobby, or business?

    • What’s your BIG dream or vision for your passion, hobby, or business?

  10. Find the common link between your passions.

    • What skills are shared amongst your passions?

    • What is similar between passions and your audience?

    • What assets are relevant and familiar between the passions?

  11. Split your passions or ventures, if needed.

    • What passions have entirely different audiences?

    • What passions have conflicting or different brand voices?

    • What passions have a different aesthetic that needs or you desire to be different from the rest?

  12. Get yourself organized to avoid looking like a flake.

    • What project management tool can you use to manage passions? (Asana or Trello.)

    • What calendar or scheduling system can you use to work on your passions consistently? (I recommend block scheduling.)

    • What can you do to minimize distractions, set boundaries, limit personal projects, etc. avoid taking on too much at once?

  13. Hire, delegate, or outsource work to keep your sanity and allow you to stay in your zone.

    • What tasks could you delegate or outsource that don’t require your zone of genius?

    • What type of help or support do you need for your business? (Virtual Assistant (VA), Social Media Manager (SMM), Online Business Manager (OBM), etc.)

    • Who can you possibly hire within your network?

    • Who can you delegate work to lighten your daily to-do list?

I realize these thirteen steps may seem daunting. However, if you want to be a successful multi-passionate entrepreneur, it’s essential to review each step and delve deeper into strategically planning how you intend to operate your passions, hobbies, or businesses without looking like a hot mess in the process.

HOW TO CREATE A CONTENT MARKETING STRATEGY FOR A PERSONAL BRAND

Now that you have your step-by-step guide, I want to quickly share a simple way to plan your content. Since the focus is on your personal brand as a multi-passionate entrepreneur, it will allow you to be authentically you and attract soul-mate clients, which will boost your sales!

A quick caveat, if you have followed me for some time, you know that content marketing is my jam, and my strengths are strategic thinking, innovation, and execution. With that said, here is my CONTENT MARKETING STRATEGY with a slight twist for you to implement into your business.

Here is a step-by-step guide to organizing your content ideas and turning it into an effective content marketing strategy:

  1. Make a list of broad topics or categories for themed content.

  2. Under each category, list sub-categories that are more specific for content ideas.

    • Example: Business > (1) Business Fundamentals, (2) Branding, (3) Coaching, (4) Marketing, (5) Sales, (6) Systems

  3. Make a list of expanded content ideas for each sub-category.

  4. Decide how many days/week you plan to post content on social media (and which platforms), to your email list, write a blog post, record a video, or do a livestream.

  5. Determine which content types you plan to use and on which day(s) of the week.

    1. Example: Monday – Inspirational/Motivational Quote, Tuesday – Blog, Wednesday – Educational Video, Thursday – Story, Friday – Revelvant Original or Curated Article/Video, Saturday – Question, Sunday – Offer

  6. Decide which order your categories will be for content creation.

    1. Example: Week 1 – Lifestyle, Week 2 – Business, Week 3 – Personal Development, Week 4 – Health and Wellness

  7. Create and schedule content for at least one week ahead using the above strategy.

Now the goal here is to be consistent, share content that is educational, entertaining, and relevant to your audience. Each week you will focus on one category for your content. For each day’s content type, you’ll create and share a piece of content for that day based on the category and tell a story with it, if possible. To give you a general idea, see my example below:

Week 2 – Business > Social Media Marketing

  • Monday – Quote about digital marketing or specifically about Instagram

  • Tuesday – Blog about ‘How to gain 1k New Followers on Instagram’

  • Wednesday – Video with 3 quick tips to growing your Instagram following

  • Thursday – Story about your biggest struggles with Instagram and how you turned them into your strengths

  • Friday – Share a relevant article about Instagram from Social Media Examiner

  • Saturday – Ask a question about your audience’s struggles with Instagram

  • Sunday – Promoting a consultation call for digital marketing services

Hopefully, the above example gives you an idea of how to plan out your content. I like this strategy because you are consistently talking about one topic for a week to allow your audience to learn from you as an expert. I also like that each day provides a different type of content to meet your audience’s needs in a way they best like to learn. Each of us has a preferred type of content we gravitate towards. We also have a dominant method for learning, such as auditory, visual, text (reading/writing), or kinesthetically.

I also recommend you use an electronic system for storing your content such as Asana or Trello, a spreadsheet, or even an online calendar if that’s your jam. I personally use Asana for everything – it’s my lifeline. I have everything I need for my business at my fingertips, so when I am at the playground with my son, sitting in line at the store, or riding in the car, I can access business information and continue to work.

Alright, I think that just about sums it all up!

I hope this helps clear the fog, shed some light, and offer some guidance to move forward in your business. You can do this!
