In the moment her Mother asked for permission to let go, Nicki knew her world would change. She struggled with not only picking up the pieces of her life but also her young daughters’ lives as well. Nicki’s Mother battled cancer for over five years still, nothing could have prepared her for when she would have to say goodbye. When her Mom passed, Nicki felt her very existence disappear. She would learn to leave her old self behind and emerge stronger than ever.

Losing the person whom she was the closest to could have broken her, made her question faith, and drive her into a deep depression. But watching her mom look cancer in the eye with no fear taught her that by living we honor our loved ones. We are always stronger than we think. She would hold onto her faith, memories, and push herself forward to truly start living her best life.

Nicki would learn how to bear the grief that now lived inside of her. She would accept the consequences that this grief would never go away. It only exists where love existed first.  This grief that now was a part of her was going to reshape her life, but that didn’t have to be a bad thing.

This is her journey of grief and overcoming tremendous pain. She hopes to encourage others on their journey with grief with the hope that they will start living their best life.
