After paying off $117,000 in consumer debt in just 18 months and RK’s money philosophies evolved. She has made it her mission to help others learn the strategies she used and ultimately live the life they aspire to.

What is your backstory? How did you find your calling?

I’ve worked in Banking and Finance for almost 15 years. I’ve sat in all the different seats. I always found that I kept coming back to one thing and that was talent development. Coaching, mentoring, and giving information in a way that resonates and males sense have always been my strengths.

I think it was going through the process of paying off my consumer debt that made me realize I wanted to help others in a more substantial way. I liken being in debt to living in the eye of a hurricane. It’s eerily calm, it feels safe, and why would you want to leave that false feeling of security? When I started my journey to pay off the debt it was hard. I woke up to the fact that I was not safe. My family was 1 step away from a financial catastrophe, so I battled through the storm.

After that experience, I made it my mission to help other Entrepreneurs stabilize their finances and bring in real wealth. I have to say, being on the other side it feels liberating to find financial freedom and I want to bring as many people with me as I can.

What do you enjoy the most about what you do?

I enjoy people. My favorite testimonial is from one of my students and she said “her honesty isn’t for the faint-hearted, yet her realistic strategies and approach has set me on a better position to build wealth.”

I laughed when I read this and at first was worried my potential students would think I’m beating people up, like a personal trainer who asks for extra burpees when you can’t pull yourself off the mat. Then I sat on it for a moment. This sums me up perfectly. I will push your way of thinking, teach you how to hold yourself accountable, and you have to work. The bigger picture is you will learn, you will grow, and I will help you brave the storm. You don’t have to go about it alone.

What’s your greatest achievement to date? Why are you proud of it?

My greatest achievement will always be my family. I have twin 4-year-olds and a 7-month-old baby boy. I do the work to leave a legacy. I didn’t come from a wealthy background, as is the case for most Entrepreneurs. The struggle and the climb are what make success meaningful.

Who has inspired you the most on your journey?

I’m a big Oprah fan and one of my dear friends gave me as a present for being in her wedding a copy of “The Path Made Clear” I find so much inspiration within that book, the stories the messages all resonate deeply.

Who would you love to meet one day and why?

This one is so hard because I have an interview bucket list. I think at the top of my list is Anne Rice. I was, and still am, deeply fascinated with her work. She has a story that is deep and human and I find her extremely compelling.

What do you wish someone told you before you became an entrepreneur/business owner?

I wish someone had told me to read the Entrepreneur Rollercoaster by Darren Hardy. That book made me put in some serious work and reconsider how I approach business.

What advice would you like to give others who are on the same or similar journey as you?

My advice is to be your authentic self always. Don’t try to fit into a box because you were not meant to. Creativity and freethinking have made the best leaders successful. I also advise listening to your intuition. There is a difference between intuition and fear and you have to understand that but listen to your intuition and if something is telling you to dig deeper listen.

What’s the best piece of advice that you have received recently?

Keep failing. This advice didn’t make sense initially but after a moment I determined what it boils down to is that to appreciate success and develop a thick enough skin to handle rejection you have to fail. I would gladly experience failure 50 times for the right opportunity.

What’s next for you?

We have a new product launching called M3’s Money Muse Academy where we will be providing financial education for the price of a gym membership. This program is groundbreaking and literally, no other financial coaches are doing it this way with VOD, an introductory coaching session, access to financial experts from around the globe, and monthly new content that’s relevant. This is a whole new world, and our goal is to make it accessible to everyone. Anyone can take steps to change their life with this program.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Helping people. My goal has always been to make a positive impact on others. I want to continue having these conversations for as long as I can.

What can we catch you doing when you’re not working?

Spending time reflecting, meditating, journaling, or playing with the kids. Those are all things I love to do.

What book impacted your life the most and why?

Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. I read it when I was 10 or 11 and I saw myself in the main character, Maya. I had a voracious appetite for books from a pretty young age. I would always steal my Mum’s Jackie Collins and Sydney Sheldon books and one day I came across Maya Angelou’s autobiography. I felt every moment in that book. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it made me feel understood. Coming to the US as a child from England made me feel a bit of an outsider. That book made me feel for the first time like it was ok to be a bit different.

What are three random facts about you?

  1. I’ve lived in 3 different countries.

  2. I have a silly amount of books in my home that I refuse to get rid of.

  3. I have a cupboard dedicated to tea in my home.

The bottom line is this anyone can do what I did. There is no magic or secret sauce. It was hard work, grit, and resilience that helped me change my life. Financial literacy changes lives, but we don’t talk about it enough. Many people don’t even know where to start. My purpose is to help people realize their potential. It’s time to live the life you aspire to.
