The secret to work-life balance as a Mom + CEO 💪 – Savor Life Planner

A question I often get asked is how I maintain work/life balance as mom, wife, CEO and business owner.

My answer is always, “I don’t.”

For me, balance is a mindset, not an actual time factor.

After all, we have more “life” hours than “work” hours.

Here are the facts:

  • Did you know there are 168 hours in a week?
  • If you sleep 8 hours a night, you have 112 waking hours per week.
  • The average American works 40-50 hours per week.
This leaves you with roughly 72 “life” hours vs. 40 “work” hours, a 32-hour difference!

So why do so many of us feel like we don’t have enough time to balance life as a family and career woman?

I believe the answer is to increase the quality of our “life” hours.

Here are some examples of how I do “life” hours:

  1. Dinner every night with the family, together at the dinner table.

No tech is allowed, and we always ask each other for “peaches, pits, and fuzzes” (positives, negatives, and surprises) of the day.

This encourages engaged conversation with follow-up questions and answers.

  2. Scheduled self-care time.

I wash my face every single night and do a little yoga by the bed on the floor before sleeping.

Even if it’s just one stretch, it often feels so good that it leads to more yummy stretching! Ahhhhh…

  3. Plan time in advance for passion projects.

Research shows that hobbies reduce stress as much as exercising does.

When you plan time for these projects, you plan your way to quality happiness and “life” hours.

In your Savor Life Planner, write out how you want to increase quality “life” hours by listing out self-care time, hobbies, and fun activities. Don’t stop there–make sure to carve out time for it in your planner! 😍

Let’s stop telling ourselves we don’t have time for “life.” We do!

Let’s instead commit to planning with intention how we spend our “life” hours so that we feel balanced.

Here’s to an abundance of time,
